Blisters

From Compeed blister plasters to heel pads: effective solutions for blisters

Blisters often occur on the feet and toes if shoes are too tight or cause pressure. They usually manifest as uncomfortable pressure pain and restrict mobility. Our RUCK product range provides suitable solutions for the treatment and maintenance of blisters in your practice in the form of blister plasters. For prevention, you will also find anti-blister sticks along with heel supports and heel pads that reduce pressure and friction inside the shoe.

How do blisters form?

It’s hard to believe, but blisters are actually a protective mechanism of our body. Although they can also form on the hands, they occur more frequently on the feet, heels and toes. The main causes are tight, constricting or slippery shoes. Thanks to constant pressure or friction on the skin, the epidermis rubs against the underlying layers, causing them to separate. The result: our body forms a fluid-filled cavity – the troublesome blister.

Like a cushion, the blister protects the tissue from further damage thanks to its cushioning effect. However, as the pressure on the sensory receptors in the skin is reinforced, the blister causes a sharp, stabbing pain.

Do not pierce blisters on the feet and toes

A classic mistake we strongly advise against: piercing the blister. Whether small or large – a closed blister should not be opened by laypeople, as the blister skin protects the affected tissue from contaminants and bacteria. Contaminated needles can also lead to worsening of the condition through inflammation.

Treating and preventing blisters – with products from the RUCK online shop

Our product range provides you with the entire spectrum of products for the treatment and prevention of blisters:

Treating blisters professionally with blister plasters

Whether the blisters are small, large or painful, a blister plaster is absolutely recommended as an effective way to treat your patients’ foot problems. The plaster is present over and onto the blister, acting as effective pressure protection and relieving the unpleasant pain even in the case of heel blisters, whilst the blister heals. If the blister is too large for the blister plaster, then it is advisable to rest the foot or seek professional medical advice.

Effectively preventing blisters

We usually notice pressure and friction points in shoes before a blister forms. In such cases, the following products from our RUCK product range can be used to take timely action to help patients prevent blisters from forming:

  • Blister plasters: Blister plasters are also suitable for effective prevention. As soon as sore, stressed areas on the foot become noticeable, simply apply the blister plaster to protect the irritated skin from further strain. In our online shop, we provide high-quality Compeed blister plasters based on hydrocolloid technology from the manufacturer of the same name, along with our own RUCK brand.
  • Anti-Blister Stick: Another option is Compeed Anti-Blister Sticks. You wear a protective film over pressure points using the stick, thereby reducing friction on the skin. Suitable if open shoes have blister plasters that are not visually suitable.
  • Heel grips: If your shoes look elegant but your feet slip inside them, our heel grips deliver reliable anti-slip protection. In most cases, they use soft gel inserts with a self-adhesive backing. They prevent pressure points, stop friction caused by the foot sliding back and forth in the shoe, and are easy to wash and clean.
  • Heel pads: High heels in particular put strain on the feet, having the effect of causing pressure points and painful blisters. Our self-adhesive heel pads serve as thin, virtually invisible padding inserts – particularly for high-heeled shoes and pumps. They reduce pressure and friction, prevent pressure points and significantly improve comfort.
