A high washing temperature (in most cases up to 90 °C) reliably kills any potential fungi, germs and bacteria. For laundry generated in day-to-day podiatry practice, the use of a special disinfectant detergent is recommended.

It is also important that foot towels are stored correctly to ensure they remain clean. They should be kept in a dry and clean place and protected from moisture and dirt. It is better to store them in a lockable cupboard or container to protect them from contaminants.
